Luxury hotelier Waldorf Astoria is venturing into the cruise travel world for the first time, with the upcoming launch of a newly built Nile riverboat for Egyptian voyages in late 2026. The vessel is simply known as the Waldorf Astoria Nile River Experience, as signed between parent company Hilton and Middle East Nile Cruisers.
"Waldorf Astoria is in an incredible new era of luxury, creating unforgettable, immersive experiences in the most sought-after destinations,” said Dino Michael, senior vice president and global head of Hilton Luxury Brands. “This year and beyond, the brand is set to define its global position with the anticipated opening of the legendary Waldorf Astoria New York, and debut in destinations including the most recent openings in Osaka and Costa Rica, and into the future with Sydney, London, Jaipur and many more. This new destination experience offers guests a spectacular view of Egypt, and we look forward to welcoming guests onboard this one-of-a-kind experience when it launches next year.”
The riverboat will offer four- and six-night itinerary options with routes traveling from Luxor to Aswan or the reverse, operating via private docks in both locations. Highlights along the journey will include Luxor and the Valley of the Kings’ temples, as well as Esna, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan.
Besides signature Waldorf Astoria service and dedicated personal concierges, the Waldorf Astoria Nile River Experience will offer 29 suites across five decks. Each private accommodation promises “a sophisticated and refined haven with breathtaking views,” according to the brand. Additional onboard amenities will extend to a fitness center and a spa, plus multiple "curated and distinctive” food and beverage experiences.
Waldorf’s signature Peacock Alley brasserie has already been announced, serving Egyptian, Mediterranean and international cuisine. The rooftop deck will also showcase fine dining.
The announcement comes at a high time for luxury hoteliers entering the cruise market, with The Ritz-Carlton recently debuting ocean yachts, Four Seasons set to do the same in early 2026 and Aman at Sea coming in 2027. Waldorf Astoria’s venture marks the first brand that is targeting river cruising specifically.
