Yesterday, Google Search announced updates to its travel platform, including a preview of flight and hotel booking updates that are in progress.
Google says that it is currently working with Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to make it possible to book flights and hotels directly in AI Mode, Google’s AI-powered search.
While there is no timeline yet for this new capability, the program will allow travelers to describe their booking needs and then compare a range of flights or hotels, as well as information such as schedules, prices and amenities. Users will be able to book their travel with the partner of their choice.
Changes that are coming as early as next week include Canvas, a tool in AI Mode for users who want to organize travel plans and projects over time.
Google also announced the global expansion of AI-powered Flight Deals, which is already live in the U.S.
And next week will see the launch of agentic booking for dining reservations. To make a reservation, users can describe their requirements, and AI Mode will search across multiple reservation platforms and websites to find real-time availability.
