On June 14, 2024, Universal Orlando Resort debuted the whimsical DreamWorks Land in Universal Studios Florida, featuring all-new experiences inspired by the popular “Shrek,” “Trolls” and “Kung Fu Panda” film franchises.

The colorful land brings DreamWorks’ animated films to life through the kid-friendly Trolls Trollercoaster, interactive play areas, character meet-and-greet opportunities and even the chance for clients to explore Shrek’s Swamp with a “noisy” slide in his outhouse.

"We are thrilled to debut an array of never-before-seen experiences for the entire family to enjoy,” said Karen Irwin, COO and president of Universal Orlando Resort. “These new experiences — coupled with the amazing attractions currently in our theme parks — will allow our guests to create lasting memories that will make this summer truly unforgettable.”

The interactive features of DreamWorks Land include King Harold’s Swamp Symphony, where guests can conduct a frog choir by stepping on lily pads, and Mama Luna Feline Fiesta, featuring Puss in Boots from “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.”

Shrek’s Swamp for Little Ogres — the location of the already infamous slide — showcases the place Shrek built for his triplets, Fergus, Farkle and Felicia.

“Shrek is my favorite [character], and I like his part of the land best,” said Presley Leonard, the 9-year-old kid correspondent for Key to the World Travel. “My favorite part was the swamp playground. It’s really big, with fun stuff to climb on, and a big slide that ends in Shrek’s outhouse. There’s also a spot where Pinocchio tells you facts.”

In addition, clients of all ages can learn kung fu moves from Master Po himself during “Po Live!” and cool down in the splashy water-play area in Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp. They can meet Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and Puss in Boots, along with Trolls’ Poppy and Branch, and Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse. Or, they can opt to sing along with DreamWorks Imagination Celebration, a new live multisensory show that combines pop songs, high-energy dancing, puppetry, advanced technology and favorite DreamWorks characters, including an appearance by King Julian from the Madagascar movies.

Additionally, kids can nosh on fun-themed snacks like Poppy-licious Pink and BroZone Berry ice cream cones representing the adorable Trolls couple, plus a savory Far Far A Waffle with cheese and pepperoni (named for Princess Fiona’s home kingdom and Donkey’s specialty), which incidentally is Leonard’s top pick.

“I had it for lunch two days in a row,” she said. “But there’s also a Shrekzel pretzel that looks just like Shrek’s face and comes with cheese that looks like green swamp slime.”

A Shrek-shaped pretzel with green cheese? Seems like a dream come true.
