Following the success of Scenic Eclipse I and Scenic Eclipse II, Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours will debut Scenic Ikon in April 2028. As the next evolution in the Discovery Yacht series, the new vessel will be larger, carry more guests and add amenities designed for both warm-water destinations and chillier poles.
“Scenic Ikon has been conceived, engineered and built with our in-house shipbuilding division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our own dedicated Scenic crew,” said Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of parent company Scenic Group. “This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development by our team, and we are delighted to share the Discovery Yacht with our valued guests, travel advisors and partners. Every element of Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimized to deliver unrivaled experiences across diverse destinations and environments, from its primary base, the Mediterranean, to the wilds of Antarctica."
Steel cutting began in February 2025, followed by keel laying in May. Delivery is slated for late 2027 for final testing of the 2028 launch.
Luxurious Specifications and Support Craft
Scenic says Ikon will retain Eclipse’s “world-class design, culinary excellence and all-inclusive ultra-luxury,” while scaling up from 17,545 gross tons and 228 guests to 26,500 gross tons and 270 guests. The overall length will also increase from 551 to 672 feet, with a 78-foot beam. The ship will maintain a Polar Code 6 rating and Ice Class 1A Super hull strength.
Ikon will again carry two Airbus helicopters, a custom Triton submersible (model AVA-9, named “Scenic Neptune III”), Zodiacs and Fassmer tenders.
