After an afternoon of splashing, traversing rope bridges and shrieking down waterslides in the immersive open-air Pirates Cove Aquapark onboard MSC Cruises' MSC Seascape, my three kids (ages 5 through 8) were ready to relax.
We had eaten a delicious lunch earlier that day in the MSC Yacht Club restaurant, and we returned to the quiet haven of the private Top Sail Lounge for an exclusive MSC Yacht Club perk: a delicious spread of late-afternoon canapes. In the spacious, light-filled lounge, my children dined on tasty scones and petite sandwiches, content to gaze at the expanse of glittering sea stretching out before us.
Starting in November, Seascape will sail from Galveston, Texas, marking the first time MSC (and its signature ship-within-a-ship luxury concept MSC Yacht Club) will be available to travelers departing from the state.

Here’s everything travel advisors need to know about MSC’s new homeport, new Texas itineraries and Seascape’s many benefits for families.
New MSC Homeport and Terminal
In a historic expansion for the cruise line, Seascape will sail from a new $156 million terminal complex at the Port of Galveston. The 160,000-square-foot terminal building is part of a 25.5-acre cruise complex that includes a seven-story parking garage and upgraded marine infrastructure.
The world’s third-largest cruise brand, Geneva-based MSC is one of the leading cruise lines in Europe, with a strong and mounting presence in North America. Homeports include Miami; New York City; Port Canaveral, Florida; Seattle (beginning in May 2026); and Galveston.
Texas is one of the fastest-growing cruise markets, and sailing from Galveston allows MSC to meet the rising demand in the South and Midwest.
“Texas is one of the fastest-growing cruise markets, and sailing from Galveston allows MSC to meet the rising demand in the South and Midwest,” said Erin Douglas, senior vice president of trade sales in the U.S. for MSC Cruises. “With the opening of the new, state-of-the-art terminal at the Port of Galveston, we can better support our travel partners and their clients while introducing our brand to an even broader North American audience.”
MSC’s New Galveston Itineraries
From Galveston, MSC will offer weekly seven-night itineraries to the Western Caribbean, with tropical destinations that include Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico, and Roatan, Honduras. These itineraries are designed to balance convenience with the brand’s immersive itineraries and onboard amenities, Douglas says.

And Galveston itself is also an attractive destination. With its historic downtown, family attractions and beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, the island city offers the perfect opportunity for travelers to extend their vacation by spending a night or two before or after their cruise, the executive adds.
MSC Seascape for Families
A Seaside EVO-class ship that debuted in late 2022 and can accommodate 5,877 passengers, Seascape has spent the last several years sailing from Miami, with cruises throughout the Caribbean.

Programming includes Lego rooms, video games, group activities and themed events, as well as 13 pools and water features, splash zones and waterslides. For older kids and thrill-seeking adults, the robotic thrill ride Robotron flips and swings riders 173 feet above sea level.
“MSC Seascape delivers tremendous value and appeal for families, and sailing from Galveston further allows us to welcome those who are looking for a new, memorable vacation,” Douglas said.
A New Market for MSC Yacht Club
The arrival of MSC’s exclusive upscale MSC Yacht Club offering will mark a new era of luxury cruising for the Texas market.

Spanning more than 32,000 square feet, the MSC Yacht Club onboard Seascape is one of the largest in MSC’s global fleet.
“The MSC Yacht Club is a beloved key differentiator of our cruise line, and travelers sailing from Texas are going to love it,” Douglas said. “It’s a great option for all types of travelers — including multigenerational travelers and families — and a unique selling point that gives clients an attainable yet exclusive luxury experience.”

A Promising Future for MSC
MSC’s future in North America is bright, with the addition of new itineraries from Seattle to Alaska in 2026, and the ongoing popularity of the line’s new flagship MSC World America, a 6,762-passenger World-class vessel that debuted in April from Miami.
“Expanding to Galveston has been part of our long-term vision for North America, and we are eager to build on the momentum of World America’s launch earlier this year,” Douglas said. “There has never been a more exciting time to sail with MSC. Our growing presence in the region reflects both our confidence in North America and our goal of providing guests with the elevated and signature experiences that MSC is known for.”
