With more than 9,000 hotels across 30 brands, Marriott is a tried-and-true hotel brand that most clients are already very familiar with. Now, Marriott is expanding its luxury portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), providing travelers with new reasons to visit Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and island destinations across the Caribbean.

"We’ve experienced outstanding momentum across our CALA portfolio this year, highlighting the region’s contribution to our continued growth,” said Martin Castaño, regional vice president of sales and distribution for CALA at Marriott International. “Marriott’s resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America deliver authentic, locally inspired experiences across all traveler segments, all enhanced by the Marriott Bonvoy platform — empowering members to elevate every stay with exclusive benefits and immersive local discovery."

In the first quarter of 2025 alone, Marriott opened six luxury properties in the Caribbean and Latin America: The St. Regis Aruba Resort; Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, Turks & Caicos; Clevia, San Miguel de Allende, Autograph Collection; the all-inclusive Waves, Autograph Collection, Barbados and the adults-only all-inclusive Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Resort, Riviera Maya and Treasure Beach, Autograph Collection, Barbados.

“As we open our doors, we are not just bringing a new hotel to a city, we are embracing the opportunity to become part of an extraordinary community, creating meaningful connections and unforgettable experiences for travelers and locals alike,” said Brian King, president of Marriott CALA of the opening of the 74-room Clevia hotel in the UNESCO World Heritage city of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Notable Openings

Among the newest properties in Marriott’s luxury hotel portfolio — and the Buenos Aires debut of the Tribute Portfolio brand — is Recoleta Grand, Buenos Aires, which opened on June 10, 2025. Located in the historic Recoleta district, the boutique hotel features 142 guestrooms, including six suites, with decor that showcases the city’s portena culture, created by local designer Lucas Gashu.

“The opening of Recoleta Grand marks an exciting chapter for Tribute Portfolio as we continue to expand into Argentina,” King said. “This property captures the essence of what makes the brand so compelling — distinctive design, vibrant spaces and an authentic connection to place. It’s a fitting addition to our growing global collection of independent hotels that celebrate character and creativity at every turn.”

Another newcomer to the Marriott umbrella is La Concha Resort, Puerto Rico. The iconic San Juan beachfront resort joined the Autograph Collection on June 11, following an extensive $80.2 million property-wide renovation that included the newly redesigned Suite Tower, featuring 238 tropical-modern ocean-view guestrooms and suites.

“Puerto Rico continues to captivate travelers with its rich culture, natural beauty and vibrant energy,” King said. “La Concha Resort’s transformation and debut as the first Autograph Collection hotel on the island is a testament to the destination’s growing appeal. This iconic property embodies the spirit of individuality and local culture that defines the Autograph Collection. We look forward to offering guests an elevated, authentic experience in one of the region’s most vibrant destinations.”

Additional June 2025 openings are the Donoma, Las Terrenas Beach Hotel & Spa, Autograph Collection, which opened in the Dominican Republic on June 19,  and The Westin Sao Paulo, which opened in Brazil on June 24.

Looking Ahead

Joining the Marriott CALA luxury portfolio on July 15, is Colony Club, Luxury Collection, Barbados. Located on the Platinum West Coast of the island, the 89-room property features unique amenities and curated experiences from private dinners on the beach to paddleboarding excursions to the brand-new Rum Vault tasting room, complete with a Rum Ambassador and Vault Chef.

“Our continued expansion in the Caribbean and Latin America demonstrates the power of our diverse portfolio of brands and our commitment to providing unparalleled hospitality in this dynamic region,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer of Marriott CALA. "As we continue … to bring new hotels and resorts to these captivating destinations, we look forward to welcoming new guests and further solidifying our position as the leading hotel company in the world."
