Last month, Journese — the luxury brand of tour operator Pleasant Holidays — hosted its annual Curators Celebration for 41 top travel advisors in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Held from Sept. 15-18 at Almare, A Luxury Collection Resort, Isla Mujeres, Adult All-Inclusive, the event included strategic meetings, destination experiences, elegant networking events and more.
“I love the Curators Celebration because it’s always in a great destination at a luxury property,” said Noel Reitz, an advisor with Uniglobe Love to Travel.
This year was Reitz’s ninth Curators event and, even after more than 30 years in business, she says she looks forward to the annual get together.
“Each year’s location showcases the kind of luxury properties Journese is known for,” she said. “That’s one of the reasons that I enjoy selling the brand — because of the quality. I think that really makes it easy to sell."
The Host Hotel
The island of Isla Mujeres is a 20-minute boat or ferry ride from Cancun. Almare — Marriott’s first luxury all-inclusive property in Mexico and part of the Luxury Collection brand — partners with Renaissance Cancun Resort & Marina at Puerto Cancun. That hotel is located 30 minutes from Cancun International Airport and guests can board a private boat at that property for the trip to the island. Visitors arrive right at Almare’s exclusive dock.
The 109-room, adults-only property provides a quieter alternative to Cancun’s bustling Hotel Zone. In the year since the property first opened, general manager Enrique Solari and his team have excelled at creating a serene sanctuary focused on relaxation and wellness. The property also spotlights high-end culinary offerings — avoiding standard buffets and instead presenting local dishes with a sophisticated flair.
“People are astonished by how we are able to mix the convenience of an all-inclusive resort while maintaining the high standards of a luxury hotel,” Solari said. “In this way, we offer the best of both an all-inclusive and European plan experiences.”
