Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has become one of the Middle East’s most exciting and in-demand tourism destinations. But to plan a trip featuring the best weather, the richest cultural experiences and the hidden gems of the city, it helps to have a local’s take on the destination’s best offerings.

Here, Manish Jha, general manager of NH Collection Dubai The Palm, shares his insider knowledge so travel advisors can strike a perfect balance between tradition and modernity for Dubai-bound clients.

The best time of year to visit Dubai is: during the cooler months, from October to mid-May. This period offers pleasant weather, perfect for exploring the city’s outdoor attractions and participating in various activities. The Global Village also takes place during this time, providing a fantastic festival park that brings cultures together, [where] visitors can enjoy a unique blend of entertainment, shopping and cultural experiences all in one place. I would recommend visiting the Museum of the Future, [which] showcases cutting-edge technology and futuristic concepts and also highlights the cultural and historical journey of Dubai.

Dubai’s best-kept tourism secret is: Dubai Creek, a lesser-known but incredibly charming part of the city. Here, you can take an abra (a traditional boat) ride across the water, visit the bustling spice and gold souks, and explore the Dubai Museum in Al Fahidi Fort. It’s a wonderful way to experience the traditional heart of Dubai.

Visitors are often surprised by: how diverse and culturally rich Dubai is. Even though it looks very modern with its tall buildings, Dubai still holds onto its traditions and heritage. The mix of old markets and new skyscrapers is something that always surprises our guests.

On my perfect day off, I would: start with an early-morning gym session, followed by a healthy breakfast at NH Collection Dubai The Palm’s Revo Cafe. Then, I’d take a walk with my family at Palm West Beach if the weather is nice. Later, I’d visit the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood to immerse myself in the city’s history. In the evening, I’d enjoy the breathtaking views from our rooftop pool, View 180, or watch a game at our Seven Sports Bar.

One local food everyone should try is: the traditional Emirati dish, al harees. It’s a slow-cooked, savory porridge made from wheat and meat, and is often enjoyed during special occasions.

My favorite experience at NH Collection Dubai The Palm is: undoubtedly our rooftop pool, View 180. It offers breathtaking, 360-degree panoramic views of the Dubai Marina, Atlantis the Royal Dubai, the Dubai Eye, Burj Al Arab and the Burj Khalifa skyscraper. It’s a perfect spot to relax, take in the stunning cityscape and enjoy a refreshing swim, creating unforgettable memories for our guests.
