The Caribbean may not be the first place that comes to mind for rewarding cycling vacations, but the region’s warm weather, picturesque settings and variety of terrain make it an ideal destination for two-wheeled activities.
There are lots of ways to enjoy a bicycle excursion in the Caribbean, depending partly on location and also whether a traveler is looking for adventure, sightseeing or simply a pleasant way to get around.
Here are some interesting examples of current options.
Bicycling Tours in the Caribbean
Several tour operators around the Caribbean offer guided and self-guided tours that take in top tourist sites as well as off-the-beaten-path gems.
In Nevis, for example, Nevis Sun Tours offers a 2.5-hour Historical Cycling tour of the capital that provides an introduction to the island’s colonial history, with stops at churches, a Jewish cemetery and the Alexander Hamilton Museum. The tour’s easy terrain makes it appropriate for a variety of ages and experience levels.
The Willemstad E-Bike City Tour in Curaçao includes visits to the Queen Emma bridge and the Governor’s Palace at Fort Amsterdam.

Guests at Caribe Hilton can get a 20% discount on two-hour rentals from Loop Experiences as part of the hotel’s recently introduced Live Like a Local program.
Curacao is another popular destination for cycling. The island’s Bandabou west side is especially good for less experienced cyclists, while the terrain of Bandariba is ideal for seasoned explorers.
Among the tour options is a three-hour Caracas Bay peninsula mountain bike itinerary offered by WannaBike. The excursion is available for travelers ages 8 and up, and the rate includes use of a bicycle or — for an additional price — an e-bike.
Visitors to Curacao who like the idea of a caffeinated ride might want to consider heading to Van Gogh, a coffee shop and roastery in Willemstad where patrons can rent bicycles equipped with a cupholder and basket — perfect for taking brew on the road.
Yet another cycling option in Curacao is available from Island Routes: its guided, two-hour e-bike tour of the capital city of Willemstad includes visits to the Queen Emma bridge and the Governor’s Palace at Fort Amsterdam.
Free bikes are available for guests at Caerula Mar Club in the Bahamas.

Caribbean Hotels with Free Loaner Bikes
Hotels that provide free loaner bicycles make it especially easy for travelers to take to two wheels on vacation. Sandals Resorts, for example, offers them at Sandals Saint Vincent and Sandals Royal Curacao.
In the Bahamas, free bikes are available for guests at Caerula Mar Club, while in the Cayman Islands, guests of Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa in Grand Cayman can hop aboard a free bike and follow the Community Bike and Walking Trail, which is made from recycled glass and leads past several photo-worthy natural settings.
The Turks and Caicos is home to several hotels with free bicycle loaner programs — including The Somerset on Grace Bay, Amanyara and The Regent Grand on Grace Bay Beach, a hotel that (in addition to offering free bikes) also partners with Eco Bikes TCI to provide electric bike rentals starting at $50 per day; weekly rates are also available.

Caribbean Hotels with Rentals
Some hotels offer bicycle or e-bike rentals for a fee. In Aruba, for example, guests at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino can rent a bike at the Activities Center (with helmets included) and embark on a variety of outings — including a 4-mile trip to the California Lighthouse.
In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, guests at Mandarin Oriental, Canouan can rent e-bikes for self-guided tours; rentals are available for periods of three or six hours, and members of the brand’s Fans program get one free hour during each stay.
